Zonta Film Festival

Zonta Film Festival (ZFF) is proud to share female-made films all weekend long at Princess Twin Cinemas in Waterloo. Twelve inspiring and thought-provoking films will be showcased, followed by a question and answer period with film directors and expert panelists. This one-of-a-kind showcase is the largest film festival in Waterloo Region, featuring stories about women, by women.

“This festival is not only about showcasing woman-made films but showcasing the world in which we live from these perspectives. Women account for 50% of moviegoers, which means there is a large demographic seeking out film from a female perspective and that is why these films are so important,” said Melissa Durrell, co-chair of ZFF.

Storytelling through a female lens is incredibly important. According to Women and Hollywood, of the top 100 grossing films of 2017, women represented only 8% of directors.

As one of the only film festivals in Canada that exclusively exhibits female filmmakers, Zonta is proud to share a diverse lineup of stories about courage, inspiration and beauty. In sharing this carefully-curated group of inclusive and diverse films, Zonta aims to inspire action, evoke change, and bring hope both locally and globally.

Not only will guests get the opportunity to view these inspiring stories at only $15 a film, but they will also have the opportunity to pick the brains of the directors who made them.

With tickets already selling out, this non-profit event benefits both audience members and the community. “All proceeds from ticket sales go to local charities and nonprofits,” said Brenda Graham, co-chair of ZFF. “Sponsorship has been great and judging by the over $110,000 raised since inception, we plan on making our mark again this year.”

Come support an amazing lineup of brilliant female filmmakers and make a difference in your community at Zonta Film Festival.
