The local advocate meet ups

Meet new, inspiring people. Share your passion. Spread the love. The Local Advocate is all about supporting local and finding like-minded people within the community. We've already started hosting events and don't plan to slow down! So tune in to our social media channels, join The Local Advocates group on Facebook, get your friends together and show your support! We can't wait to meet you.

GET INVOLVED!

The support that we have been receiving from the community has been incredible! First of all, thank you so much to anyone who is reading, visited the site before, shared with their friends or offered to help out.

The Local Advocate is for the people so it makes sense that everyone should have the opportunity to get involved. This year we will be hosting drop-in meetup sessions for those that want to collaborate, make a difference and give back to their community.

SUNDAY january 7th from 10 - 2 at settlement co. kitchener

Our first meet up was on Sunday January 7th at Settlement Co. in Kitchener (corner of King and Victoria).  We spent the afternoon brainstorming with like-minded people, working on future partnerships and sharing our love of KW over some coffee and left inspired. Look for exciting things to come from our new partnerships with RFB Development and Downtown Kitchener!

Stay tuned for our next meet-uP!

Our first #girlboss meet up at the beautiful Arabella Park Beer Bar in Belmont Village! Big thanks to Belmont Flowers for this beautiful centrepiece.

BADASS GIRLS DRINK BEER

Kitchener- Waterloo is an incredible place to live and work because of the community. And The Local Advocate wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the group of badass girls I've come to know and love that have supported me through it all. So it seemed right that our first ever event would be to celebrate these women with a #girlboss meet up at Arabella Park Beer Bar.

A group of creatives, freelance marketers, real estate experts, writers and horticulturalists walked into a bar... and had a night sharing their ups and downs in both business and life.

The night seemed to flow perfectly, just like the craft beer! And we've already started planning the next one! If you'd like to get involved contact us and make sure you're a member of The Local Advocates- Kitchener/ Waterloo for updates.

MEET Your NEIGHBOURS- KAUFMAN

I love living at Kaufman! Located right in the centre of Kitchener's Innovation District, it houses a ton of local young professionals, creatives, dog owners, loft lovers and urban advocates. I have been living there for a over year now but each day I see people that I have never met before.

The Meet Your Neighbours events are meant to bring people together. With one rooftop event already in the books and the next one anticipated for summer 2018, this is an awesome chance to meet your neighbours as well as other members of The Local Advocates- Kitchener/ Waterloo.  And the bonus is if you live in the building you can come down in your slippers! #nojudgement

Do you love wine? Do you find that some of your most inspiring, interesting conversations happen over a glass (or bottle) of the sweet nectar? Would you like to learn more about certain varietals, pairings, tasting and more? Throughout the year, we will be hosting a whole slew of wine-inspired events! This will be a mix of wine and cheese tastings with some of the area's best somms, intimate dinner-party-style nights out and pretty much everything you can do with a glass of wine in your hand. Our first event was at the newly opened Swine & Vine... take a peek at the video to see how it turned out!

WHATEVER YOU WANT!

This is all new to us! Right now we are experimenting, collecting feedback and trying to get as many advocates as possible so we can provide the best possible experiences. Everything we do is for the community so it makes sense that you should be a part of the planning. Here are some ideas we have thought of but we actively encourage feedback so click the contact button, get in touch and tell us what you want.

Potential Ideas:

  • Meet Your Neighbours Series
  • Industry Meet Ups: Marketing, Real Estate, Finance, Etc.
  • Start-up Collaboration (Providing advice from successful entrepreneurs to those just starting up)
  • Foodie Dinners
  • Dog Walking Meet Ups
  • And much more!
